When McKinnon Maddox sat down to his first computer at the age of two, little did he know what was ahead for him and his future. He was intrigued with this machine and was determined to discover all that he could about its possibilities and experience this new way of learning.
At the age of six, he was video gaming with his older brother, and soon began competing in online tournaments beating players around the world, but no one knew his age. He soon became known as the “wiz kid” by friends on certain games. Although chronologically behind his competitors, he formed a team and began competing on the gaming circuit. He traveled around the United States competing in professional video game tournaments. He began live streaming his video gameplays to viewers online and even sponsored a tournament in which over a thousand participants competed. In addition to gaming, he taught himself to code and built his first e-commerce website at the age of fourteen. McKinnon left Oak Mountain High School in his sophomore year so he could spend more time working on his web development company, MacMedia. He finished high school a year early through a home school program, participated in the official graduation ceremony in May, and was a Valedictorian.
MacMedia is an inclusive digital media and marketing company, and since forming the company, his unique approach utilizing websites, videos, and social media has provided businesses with state-of-the-art marketing strategies. He even produced a music video for a local artist. He has a video podcast, speaks at seminars, and is known as “Mac” by his over 47,000 Twitter followers.
